On the ravenueart of Kuf, the Macht are a mystery, a seldom-seen people of extraordinary ferocity and discipline whose prowess on the battlefield is the stuff of legend.

I don’t know whether the theme was intentional but it gives the book a real cohesion and sense of momentum. Gemmell really knows how to pull you into a story and really feel for the characters.
